New York mobile sportsbooks generated $46.5 million in gross gaming revenue on $384.8 million in handle for the week ending August 2, 2026, per data released by the New York Gaming Commission. GGR jumped 66.7% week-over-week even as handle came in below $400 million for the third consecutive week - the summer lull between the World Cup and NFL preseason. Four of the state's eight active operators recorded double-digit hold rates.
The Week in Numbers
Handle came in at $384,761,040 - up 8.7% from the previous week's $354.06 million, and roughly $46 million higher than the same week in 2025. GGR of $46,532,432 was a 66.7% jump from the previous week's $27.91 million, which had been one of the summer's lowest weekly revenue figures. The rebound was driven almost entirely by hold: the state-wide win rate climbed from 7.88% to 12.09%, snapping back toward the operator-friendly readings seen during the World Cup.

Per-operator figures were reported by Covers.com from the same NYSGC filing. FanDuel and DraftKings dominated both handle and hold, while Fanatics posted one of its strongest weeks of the summer with a 96% GGR spike vs the prior period.

Four Books Post Double-Digit Holds
FanDuel led all NY operators with a 13.3% hold on a state-leading $136.9 million handle - $18.2 million in GGR, over $7 million higher than the prior week. DraftKings followed with a 12.4% hold on $130.2 million in wagers, producing $16.2 million in GGR - nearly double its prior-week revenue.
Fanatics enjoyed the standout bounceback of the week: a 12.6% hold on $43.4 million in handle produced a 96% week-over-week increase in gross revenue. BetRivers quietly turned in the third-highest hold rate at 12.8% on a much smaller $8.3 million handle.
On the other end of the spectrum, theScore Bet had a rough stretch, winning back just 3.2% of $5.7 million in wagers. BetMGM's hold slipped from 11.6% the prior week to 8.1%, keeping GGR essentially flat on a smaller handle. Caesars nearly cleared the double-digit line at 9.9%, and Bally Bet managed a healthy 9.8% on its usual small volume of $2.3 million.

The World Cup Final week produced a 16.05% hold - among the highest single-week readings since NY launched mobile betting in January 2022. That was followed by two consecutive weeks of collapsing revenue as MLB became the only meaningful sport on the calendar and bettors, apparently, ran hot. The week ending July 26 was among the summer's best for NY sports bettors overall. Aug 2 marks the market resetting back toward the long-run 9-11% norm.
What's Coming: NFL Preseason Kicks Off
NFL preseason began Thursday, August 7, which historically produces a modest handle bump - typically 15-25% week-over-week in the first preseason week - before ramping much more sharply into the regular-season opener in early September. September 2025 (the equivalent post-preseason ramp last year) produced an average of $571 million per week in NY handle, roughly 48% above the summer trough.
The August 9 weekly report will be the first to include full NFL preseason action. Expect handle to climb back above $400 million, though hold rates for preseason games historically run lower than regular-season averages because bettors gravitate toward "sharp side" contrarian bets on rookies and depth players.
